“Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.”

Used Car Ministry

What Is It?

The Used Car Ministry places good used cars with families so that they can maintain employment or education.  The public transportation system is often inadequate for the people who work odd hours or live far from their job.  A reliable car helps them to be more flexible in obtaining and continuing employment or education.

Who Qualifies for It?

Cars are given to low income families who need a car for work, education or medical reasons.  Families are usually referred to the program by the deacons of their church.  The families donate a nominal amount monthly to Volunteers in Action for the car.  The recipient is responsible for the cost of licensing, insuring and maintaining the car.  There may be financial help available for part of their first insurance payment.  Completion of a financial literacy course is required.  Participants in the program must have good driving records and fill out an application to the program.

Consider a donation to the Used Car Ministry:

  • The Used Car Ministry always needs vehicles in good working condition with at least 2 years of life.
  • Simple repairs are made by volunteers who donate their time and expertise to make the cars roadworthy.
  • Donations to this program may be tax exempt since they are made to a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
  • Your well used car could make a huge difference in someone's life.
